Thanks for your response. Two things would have to get resolved before considering your request further. First, one cannot live on $1700-1900 per month here. Our graduate students get over $3100 per month and that is barely enough. Our post-docs get closer to $5000 per month. We have had problems with Chinese folks coming here and not having adequate funding, which ends up being a big problem and we can't do that anymore. Secondly, if you intend to get anything done during a one or two year time period, you must have a very specific topic and a concrete research plan. I don't have a particular project to which you could be assigned as all of our projects are fully staffed already. So if you want to be considered further, please resolve the above two items. If your funding is fixed, you probably need to go to a lower-cost institution. Those in or around major cities in the US -- in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, or Chicago will be in areas that are too expensive.
