It depends upon the types of your samples. For example, if your samples are very brittle, there is no necessity for a long time, since it might even tend to be fractured ASAP. In contrast, if your samples are of high tougheness(elastomer, e.g), more time is required, since it hardly be totally broken. In sum, you should unify the time in order to eliminate the experimental errors. |

You may try. In our group, the sample's thickness is no more than 1mm. Even for the neat elastomer such as POE, half an hour is sufficient. I can not give you a direct answer, because the normal thickness of PP prepared by injection is usually around 2 mm (Dumbell). Which might need more time. Remember that the main purpose to use liquid nitrogeon is to eliminate the possible stress damage during the process of preparing samples. |
