Foreign invested companies...
If you pinpointed to US companies, they are very honest, do not care much about your academic qualification but focus on your abilities to get things done, I cannot confirm you that US companies has lesser politics but it seems that is the most case.
Small gifts, coffee and make some jokes is common within a US company, but you will never make friends with those foreigners unless they are very very lonely.

thanks very much. Would you mind telling me something else about working in foreign invested companies?
Like, How is the interpersonal relationship there? Less political than in state-owned companies?
Is the career prospect much better for the ordinary persons without strong social ties from their families?
