Welcome Our New Expert---rchiuctw

You, guys, must have noticed that a new expert has joined our English café expert team, yeah, welcome our new expert---rchiuctw, let us give him our best wishes, hope English cafe can provide a great platform for him to perform his excellence and enjoy himself here.

His English name is Raymond, so you can call him Raymond if you like.If you don't come here often, you may not know he is a retired man,so you can also call him uncle! He is very active in English cafe, and his English is perfect,before retirement he had worked in a foreign company for many many years! So i guess @witch_girl can learn much from him, if you think your English is far from perfection, hope you can get help from our expert, and i am sure he is ready to help you, come on, little witch,you are a smart and lovely girl, believe it or not, yeah, you believe it!!

Uncle Raymond is a kind and nice person, and also a very very learned guy, he knows very much, such as how to keep health,electronic products,and from his avatar we can guess he must be good at Tai Ji, wow, that's cool!!! I guess he must be a humorous guy, he shares many jokes here, though most of them seems......haha!!And he is also a good cook, wow, i want to eat some delicious meals, oh, i am a little hungry now! I am sure is that his joining will bring us great surprise ,happiness and joy to all worms here. Let us give him a warmly welcome again!

From now on, he will be right here, communicate with us and share nice things with us. And you, we hope you all like here and communicate here freely and happily.

When you said music and movies are not useful, I suspect that you need to change your mindset a little bit.

English is not our mother tongue, and therefore from first lesson, we do a lot of translation in mind to memorize each word.
For example, in the morning when we see people, naturally we would say Good Morning and somehow students they use a very funny method to memorize it, say 狗的抹脸. And from that onward, students are not learning a language, they just memorize it.

To use the language, you should add Good Morning to your mind, and in the morning when you see the others, spell out Good morning no matter opponent is or is not a foreigner, spell it out loud, do not hesitate and make it real fast, this is to train your mind that Good morning is the right word to spell when meeting people in the morning.

My experience to learn oral English is still songs, movies and foreigner chat and no other shortcuts, however, the song listening is two steps, first you listen while viewing the lyrics, and next when you are confident enough, listen without lyrics and of course at last, you sing along and try to adjust your tone to match with the singer.
For movies, a similar practise is to view the movie with Chinese subtitles first to understand the content, secondly, view the same movie but with English subtitles, and lastly, view it without any subtitles, and more important, spell out the same as movie character said.

I am not sure if the above can be helpful to you, but I suggested these to many people who think they are working.
