I dont have an English name, because we always called our Chinese name at our work place.
When I registered in here, I used the easily remembered and usually common name in our English books.

And then, Rachel is a smart gril who has black hair, not being high and  tenacity in native speaking English guys' mind.  Finally, the pronuncition of "Rachel" is similar with my Chinese name "Ruyao" .

But for English native speaker, they never think about the meaning of the word they had chosen for their baby's name. They might select a name because they admire a person so they would use the same name. That is why the son may have the same name as his father's sometimes. e.g. A boy was named as Jack may because the parents hpoe the baby would be a people like Jack when he grown up.
