Beta zeolite was first exploited by Mobil in the United States at 1967, with a three dimensional network of 12 ring pores straight channel system and it is the only chiral hole in the aperture network zeolite structure. Because of its unique topology BEA, Beta zeolite has lot of advantage, such as easily modulating in the ratio of Si/Al at great range, both acid selective catalytic activity and structure selective, high thermal stability and so on. It rapidly became a new type of catalytic material in recent years and has been widely applicated with promising prospects.
In this article, based on the previous research of our laboratory, Beta zeolite was synthesized by solid-phase method in pilot scale at low costs. In order to translation this technology to the industrialized production, existing industrialized synthetic raw materials were further optimizated. Through the research, the kinds of crystallization promoting agent and its optimal amount were studied, while, the crystallization time were also further optimizated. After determined the stirrer type of this reactor and resolved the problem during pilot scale production, a number of Beta zeolite which with different Si/Al ratio were synthesized in pilot scale. These products were characterized by XRD, XRF, FT-IR, SEM, Py-IR, NH3-TPD, N2-absorption, and the results showed that these Beta zeolite products were all qualified.
The catalytic activity of these Beta zeolite products were evaluated firstly by MAT (micro-activity test) method, and then the FCC (fluid catalytic cracking) activity were evaluated by fixed-fluid bed reactor. The results showed that these products have good catalytic performance. Finally, a low-costs method to synthesize Beta zeolite and lots of valuable experience for pre-production were obtained. |
