Dr. Chung-Lung (C.L.) is a Thompson Chair Professor in the Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department and the Director of the Thermal, Fluid & Energy Laboratory at the University of Missouri (MU). Before joining MU in 2011, he was the Department Manager and founder of Applied Computational Physics, and Thermal & Flow Physics at the Teledyne Scientific (Former Rockwell Science Center). In this tenure he worked in close collaboration with industry and academia partners to develop many successful multidisciplinary programs. He led a wide range of paradigm-shift programs in fluid/structure/acoustics, power generation, cooling technology, micro/nano technology and development of multidisciplinary computational technology. Dr. Chen’s research has been funded by DARP/MTO, DARPA/DSO, DARPA/TTO, DARPA/STO, ARPA-E, NASA, NRO, ONR, ORNL, Rockwell Automation, Rockwell Collins, Boeing Company, Kimberly Clark, RTI and ITRI. He worked at NASA Ames on computational aerodynamics and helicopter rotor flows during 1985-1988. He is an associate fellow of AIAA and has authored or co-authored over ninety technical papers, two patents and one book chapter. He received National Chung-Kung University’s DAA Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2011.
