[求助] Quadrupole mass spectrometer, quantitative analysis of gas mixture

Dear friends,

Now I encounter a big problem. My system consists of propane and oxygen with carrier gas argon, I can control and detect the flow rate and gas concentration (V%) at the inlet. After reaction, I want to know the concentration of unreacted propane at the outlet in order to calculate the conversion.

Also I am interested in the  productions distribution like propylene , ethylene, ethylene, methane. As you know, it is extremely tricky to quantitative analysis these organic molecules only using quadrupole mass spectormeter, which actually is very powerful.

I failed to detect the gas concentration of each species, for their mass signals overlap too much. For example, propane and propylene share the same signal at m/z=41,28,29 etc. It will be more complicated when taking ethylene, ethane and methane into consideration. I understand it is easy to solve this problem combined QMS with gas chromatograph, the well-known system GC-MS.

But we don't have GC in our lab. Now I borrowed an old one from other group. And I still don't want to give up my QMS. After all, it cost more than 40 thousand euro. I cannot believe that it is unable to solve such a (deceptively) simple problem.

So I am wondering if there were some experienced guys who are willing to provide me with some suggestions, both negative or positive.

Thank you in advance.
