Bioengineered, which is PubMed/Medline indexed, focuses on genetic engineering which involves the generation of recombinant strains (both prokaryote and eukaryote) ¡£¡£¡£ Addenda are essentially auto-commentaries. We invite authors of the most significant recent and forthcoming papers, published elsewhere, to provide a short summary with additional insights, new interpretations or speculation on the relevant topic. These manuscripts may include data or models, which due to space limitations were not included or discussed in the original paper. The length is quite flexible and can be in the range of 1000-3000 words, including an abstract of 150-200 words and 5-10 key words for indexing purposes. We aim to publish your Addendum as rapidly as possible after submission. Please note that, as this is an invited contribution, black & white page charges are waived. The final version of accepted manuscripts will be posted on the web site and on PubMed without delay. Should you decide to submit an Addendum, please provide me with a working title and an approximate submission date. I appreciate your consideration and I am looking forward to hearing from you. About Bioengineered Bugs Mission Statement To highlight the most recent and significant advances in the development of genetically modified organisms for food, pharmaceutical, medical, industrial, environmental and bio-defense applications. About the journal In only a few short decades molecular biology and genetic engineering have given rise to one of the fastest growing areas of scientific endeavour with significant commercial applications in the form of biotechnology. Since the 1970's microbes have been engineered to produce recombinant drugs, to function as vaccine and drug delivery platforms, to breakdown and neutralise waste, chemical and radiation spills and mop up oil slicks. Furthermore, in a more sinister capacity genetically engineered microbes have been developed for their bio-defense potential. Bioengineered Bugs provides a platform for publishing high quality research on any aspect of genetic engineering which involves the generation of recombinant strains (both prokaryote and eukaryote) for beneficial applications in food, medicine, industry, environment and bio-defense. Initially, we will publish bimonthly, incrementally increasing the frequency to 12 issues per year. Each issue will appear in print and online and will be PubMed/Medine and ISI indexed upon approval. Submissions and peer review will be rapid and handled online. The average time from submission to final decision for the current Landes Bioscience journals is one month. Once accepted, papers are published online within three weeks. Papers rejected from other high impact journals may be submitted with previous reviews and decision letters. |
