According to the material balance equations of continuous bioprocesses, a uniform framework for mathematical modeling of this class of processes is first presented. Then a robust controller is designed by using the Hinfin mixed sensitivity method for the bioprocesses. Finally, the proposed Hinfin control strategy is applied to bio-dissimilation process of glycerol to 1, 3-propanediol. In most cases nonconvex yield optimization problems with GMA models cannot be transformed into convex optimization problems through geometric programming, but an iterative strategy can be used to compute the optimal solution by solving a series of geometric programming.
