The new rules issued Thursday by the Supreme People's Court and prosecutor's office cut by half the number of counterfeit movie, music or software discs that will qualify a producer for prison terms. Counterfeiters of 500 copies now face up to three years in prison, and those making two-thousand-500 copies are liable to terms of up to seven years. State media also say much stiffer fines are now in place for convicted counterfeiters. The report by Pentagon acting inspector general Gimble backs earlier assertions made by the intelligence community before the U.S.-led invasion that Iraq and al-Qaida had no operational ties. |
