[交流] Research Associate (PostDoc) for a period of two years 已有1人参与

The Leibniz Center for Tropical Marine Ecology GmbH (Leibniz-ZMT GmbH)
in Bremen is a member of the Leibniz Association, which is supported
by the German Federal and State Governments. Through its research,
Leibniz-ZMT GmbH contributes to developing science-based strategies
for sustainable use of tropical coastal systems (www.zmt-bremen.de).

The ZMT offers a position as Research Associate (PostDoc) for a period
of two years. Salary will be according to the German civil service
remuneration system (TV-L13). The project is conducted jointly with
the Center for Marine Environmental Sciences at University of Bremen.

We are looking for a researcher who is keen on working on
reconstruction and modelling of environmental settings and
biogeochemical cycles in the mangrove-fringed Segara Anaka Lagoon,
Java, Indonesia. The study will be conducted in the frame of the
interdisciplinary cooperative project "Terrestrial Influences on
Mangrove Ecology and Sustainability of their resources (TIMES)",
subproject "Reconstruction of lagoon dynamic stages and mangrove
extension in the Segara Anakan Lagoon during the Anthropocene".
It is part of the German-Indonesian SPICE III (Science for the
Protection of Indonesian Coastal Marine Ecosystems) programme and is
funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Human activities have altered the environment for thousands of years,
but became more prominent since the beginning of the so-called
'Anthropocene'. An integrated understanding of how human activities
in the hinterland adversely affect environmental conditions and
natural resource potentials is therefore a prerequisite to develop
measures that ensure the conservation and sustainable use of coastal
aquatic ecosystems. In order to understand these relationships this
project aims at reconstructing environmental changes in the Segara
Anakan Lagoon and its watershed during the Anthropocene. Sediment and
soil archives as well as time-series of biogeochemical data from the
lagoon shall be used. Numerical models shall be applied to reconstruct
hydro- and transport dynamics and element cycles in the lagoon for
different historic stages and the current conditions.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in engineering, geosciences,
chemistry, biology or related fields. We expect the ability to work
in a team, participation in sampling campaigns in Indonesia, good
communication skills in English and profound analytical skills in
biogeochemistry. Experience with the set-up and application of
numerical models for the simulation of hydrodynamics and ecosystem
entities is beneficial.

The Leibniz-ZMT GmbH is an equal opportunity employer. Disabled
persons with comparable qualification receive preferential status.

Your application should include a complete CV, a short outline of
research interests and experience and two letters of reference. Send
it preferentially as a single pdf file by e-mail (hardcopy is also
welcome) to the following address until May 04, 2012. For financial
reasons we cannot refund travel expenses or return application
documents.
