The rapid advancements of new energy power generation and grid initiated the booming development of large-scale high-temperature superconducting wind turbines. As wind power grid cause grid instability, superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) and superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) devices will play a key role in the wind power system. Based on a review of the basic structural features and advantages, R&D status quo and trend, function and application, as well as future orientation for research of superconducting power devices (e.g., superconducting wind turbine, SMES, and SFCL devices) in the wind power systems, this paper is intended to draw public attention to the development trends and application prospects of superconducting power devices. |
