2012 International Workshop on Swarm Intelligent Systems (IWSIS2012) http://www1.tyust.edu.cn/yuanxi/yjjg/iwsis2012/iwsis2012.htm Special Session- New Evolutionary Optimization Techniques for Solving Complex Optimization Problems Session Chair: Dr. Hui Wang, Nanchang Institute of Technology, China, Email: wanghui_cug@yahoo.com.cn Prof. Zhijian Wu, Wuhan University, China Email: zhijianwu@whu.edu.cn Many real-world problems may be formulated as optimization problems with variables in continuous or discrete domains. In the past decades, different kinds of evolutionary optimization techniques have been designed and applied to solve optimization problems, e.g., Simulated Annealing (SA), Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs), Differential Evolution (DE), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Ant Colony Optimization (ACO), Artificial Bee Colony (ABC), etc. As the complexity of the problem increases, these existing algorithms may not sufficiently satisfy the problem requirements and more effective algorithms are needed. The aim of the special session is to provide a forum to disseminate and discuss new evolutionary optimization techniques for solving complex optimization problems. Authors are encouraged to submit both theoretical and practical articles to this special session. The topics include, but not limited to, the following: New evolutionary optimization techniques in: Multimodal optimization problems Constrained optimization problems Multi-objective optimization problems Dynamic and uncertain optimization problems Large-scale optimization problems Combinatorial optimization problems New evolutionary optimization techniques in: Scheduling Data clustering Design optimization Pattern recognition, Robotics Other applications Theoretical analysis of new evolutionary optimization techniques All accepted papers will be published on some EI journals as regular papers. All papers are refereed through a peer review process. Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. All papers must be submitted electronically in PDF format only and be mailed to: Section Chair: Dr. Hui Wang at wanghui_cug@yahoo.com.cn. Remember: (1) Page limit: eight pages for initial submission; seven pages for final submission. (2) Paper format: Two-column format PDF files in standard conference style. Please refer to the LaTeX style file or Microsoft Word template to prepare your manuscripts. For more details, please visit the website of IWSIS2012: http://www1.tyust.edu.cn/yuanxi/yjjg/iwsis2012/iwsis2012.htm Important Dates: Submission Date: April 30, 2012 Acceptance Date: May 30, 2012 Registration Date: June 15, 2012 Final version Date: June 15, 2012 Publication Date: All accepted papers will be published within 2013.
