Recently chalcopyrite compounds have received much attention because of their potential applications in the field of light-emitting diodes , non-linear optic , and photovoltaic sensitive material in solar cells . In spite of their wide technological applications the thermodynamical and optical properties of these semiconductors has still not been sufficiently investigated. The knowledge of thermal expansion behaviour of this semiconductor is essential for analyzing the growth conditions of bulk single crystals of sufficient size and optical quality from the melt and also for the understanding of the temperature dependence of the electronic, optical, electrical and many physico-chemical properties as well as for determining the temperature dependence of optical birefringence as may be necessary in tuning of non-linear optical laser devices . |
