According to a proposal released by the Ministry of Environment, FITs would be cut by 20 to 30 percent on March 9, 2012. Starting on May 1, rates would be further reduced on a monthly basis. The new scheme would have three different rates depending on the size of an installation: one for rooftop systems up to 10 kW, another for rooftop systems up to 1,000 kW and a third for large-scale systems up to 10 MW. Power plants larger than 10 MW would no longer have access to any incentives. Under the proposal, only 90 percent the energy produced by a PV installation would receive the FIT.
