MMOR reject and resubmit

昨天刚刚收到的拒稿信，没有经验，求指点。下面是编辑的信： Reviewers' comments on your work have now been received. You will see that they are advising against publication of your work. Therefore I must reject the manuscript as is but I encourage you to resubmit the manuscript. For your guidance, I append the reviewers' comments below. Thank you for your submission to MMOR. Unfortunately, the reviews were not positive, and I must reject the paper, though I encourage you to re-submit it if you can address all comments in a revision. Two additional comment that you must address are: 1. You must demonstrate how your work fits into the current body of work. I noticed that the most recent reference is from 2007 (with only one more newer than 2000). That makes me wonder how timely and of general interest your work might be. 2. Machine scheduling is a well-know problem in the operations research, and is typically solved using integer programming. This approach can handle problems that are far more complex than the simple examples that the game theory literature solves theoretically. How does your work relate to that body of work, and what new insights can you offer. Note that in practice, integer programming has been used for decades to solve these and other operational planning problems in industry. 另外一个审稿人的意见在附件里：除了前面的肯定，主要意见是 Overall the results in the paper merit publication. The extensions considered in the paper are important - specially in Section 3. I have one major concern for the paper - its exposition needs to be better. Specially, Section 3 is very loosely written. For instance, it starts with“chain precedence constraint”without formally defining it. It is not clear what a“Sidney-component”is. Definition 1 is a mess - it can be improved by breaking it up into small bits. Theorem 6 has an incomplete sentence (the last sentence ends with the word “under”). If the writing in Section 3 is improved, I have no hesitation in recommending acceptance of this paper. 求意见，求指点 |

vivee(金币+5): ★★★很有帮助 本人写作确有不足，但是我觉得前一个意见完全是课题不同的人看来觉得没什么价值，事实上我是做的交叉学科的课题，不专注大规模计算，所以感觉只能加几篇新一点的参考文献，再解释一下为什么不用整数规划，整数规划解完还要另外求代价分配，所以只有少数情况用整数规划。至于文章写作的第三部分要大改我同意，而且会按意见改，但是不知道这样重投有没有希望 2012-02-24 09:54:10

做科研就要有一种执着的精神，只有这样才能够成功。楼上兄弟们的建议应该对楼主有一定的帮助。但是既然主编已经给你重投的机会，希望你能够珍惜。 看来你的scetion 3没有细心地推敲和斟酌，文章的每一句话都要简洁明了，描述清晰准确，行文流畅。 前一段时间有个研究生在自己写完文章之后总是沾沾自喜，觉得很了不起，屁股都要翘到天上了，给了他很多的建议，直接无视，一气之下不给修改直接投出，几天后直接毙掉，之后当面再次指出了他的不足，这一次他虚心接受（这些话不是针对楼主）。文章一定不能盲目，在修改几次之后要逐字逐句地细细读一遍，包括标点符号，图标都要在检查一次再行投稿。做到事半功倍，你离成功也就不远了。但前提是你的paper 的新颖性和创新性没有问题。 |
