In some countries young people are encouraged to work or travel for a year between finishing high school and starting university studies. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages for young people who decide to do this. In present-day society, tens of thousands of students graduate from high school every year. Meanwhile, whether they should travel or work for a year before enrolling in universities has ignited public debate. Obviously, traveling or working in a company for a period possible imposes some adverse effect on students. As a matter of fact, after a period of break from school, students commonly are not accustomed to rhythm of studying in school any more. Hence they cannot make their minds concentrate on study, which efficiency of studying, undoubtedly, is relatively counterproductive. Nonetheless, we are not able to overlook the reality that students are capable of benefiting greatly from traveling or working. For one thing, for instance, flying to America to get a tour in National Yellowstone Park will expand their outlook in terms of the origin of our planet, which, especially, is beneficial for students who desire to study Geology in universities. Furthermore, working for a period before going into colleges also students understand what they are interested in and where the high proportion of their stamina should be spent. For example, students working in a computer company have more clear perspectives of what kind of technology is prevalent at that period. In conclusion, working or traveling for a year is a two-edged sword. On the one hand, it renders some students undesirable to go back to school. On the other hand, traveling or working either broaden their vision or afford them outlines in what they should engage in universities in the future. I hold the viewpoint of motivating students to work or travel for a year, which, evidently, advantages prevail over disadvantages. |
