Dear Mr. XXX:

Thank you for your letter and for your enthusiastic interest in working in XXX as a post-doctoral research associate.  I would like to further consider the possibility of your working in XXX, and look forward to receiving the letters of reference that you have mentioned.

In the meantime, I am alerting the XXX and XXX in the XX department who coordinate these types of applications.  As you are probably aware, we will need to ensure funding for this position, as well as process the appropriate visa application, so we will want to plan ahead, if you come to Purdue.  Further information on our laboratory's research is given on our website, below.
