1. The ring laser equation (1) relates the beat frequency δf of the two counterpropagating continuous wave (cw) laser beams inside the ring cavity to the rate of rotation (Ω) imposed on the projection on the normal vector (n) of the ring laser structure. 2.However this competes with deleterious effects such as additional losses related to the increasing laser beam waists at the cavity mirrors as well as the geometric instabilities arising from the inherently heterolithic cavity design for very large lasers.  |
