Reviewer’s comment
The paper explains about fairly good work on the occurrence of histamine and histamine forming
bacteria in frozen-stored skipjack tuna from East China Sea which are subsequently used for canning.
The work is presented in simple language but with substantial number of mistakes regarding grammar
and framing sentences. There are minor technical mistakes also. Some of them are enlisted below
L- 47 Remove full stop berofre (Motil & Scrimshaw, 1979; Taylor, 1986).
Replace ‘can vary’ with ‘may vary’
L-49-51 That scobroid… may be revised as “The naturally occurring high content of free histidine in the
muscle of scombroid fish is the cause of histamine fish poisoning.
L-52 Full sentence may be deleted.
L-70 Replace ‘Skipjack tuna can’ with ‘Canned skipjack tuna’
L-72 “However, histamine content ….’’ May be revised as “However, histamine has been encountered in
excess of the standards which has been a hindrance to export.”
L-73 Full sentence may be deleted.
L- 78 ‘…effect of’ should be written as ‘effects of’.
L-80 ‘….would be’ should be replaced with ‘could be’.
L-87 ‘would be’ should be replaced with ‘was’
L-93 What is ‘aseptic bag’? define properly.
L-103 ‘The water content was conducted’ should be written as ‘…determined’ and give reference of the
method explained.
L-111 Delete ‘respectively’.
L-115 ‘..fortified’ should be written as ‘fortified with’
L-117 Delete ‘color’
L-134 “..according to” to be replaced with “in”
L-136-137 “ .. and the concentration…Diaminoheptane were” should be re-written as ‘keeping the
concentration ..” “which was …mother solution” to be replaced with “and this solution was used as
stock solution”.
L-138 “They….” Write the dilution ratio of stock solution (mother solution) per mL (of water/HCl ?) and
not the dilution ratio of histamine and diaminoheptane for preparing working solution.
L-142 After “20μl of 100 μg/mL” a comma is missing.
L-146 ‘filtrated’ to be replaced with ‘filtered’
L-160-163 The first line bears an ambiguous meaning. The recovery method is not clear. The sections 2.5
and 2.6 as referred are not clearly visible in the text. Explain the method comprehensively.
L-172 ‘the cell pellet was’ to be replaced with ‘the cell pellets were’
L-175 13000g should be 13000rpm
L-178 After MgCl2 delete space before comma
L-180 Delete space before TaKaRa after bracket
L-206 ‘..are present’ re-write ‘are presented’
Temperature should be written without ° sign, e.g. 55°C as 55C.
All ‘et al.’ should be italicized ‘et al.’
Table title and figure titles should be written in uppercases.
References should be written I in style of the journal, e.g., all authors’ name should be in upper case.,
year along with author’s name, page no. at last, etc. Refer a paper of the journal and see the instructions
to author.
In the text, writing of reference is not proper, e.g. in L-47 (Motil & Scrimshaw, 1979; Taylor, 1986)
should be written as (Motil and Scrimshaw 1979; Taylor 1986).
Finally check grammar by using Word’s “Spelling and Grammar” botton.
The paper is up to the mark and may be accepted with minor revision. |
