LeBail Method To overcome some of the problems of the Pawley method as experienced at the time, Armel le Bail took a wholly different approach to the extraction of the peak intensities from the powder profile. The approach was simple and, perhaps more importantly, it was very easy to code into existing Rietveld programs. The method uses a two-step cyclic process. As with the Pawley method, the following parameters are fitted by a standard least-squares methods: A,B,C,D,E,F - Unit-cell metric tensor parameters; 2¦Èzero - Instrumental zero error; U,V,W - Peak-width parameters; ¦Ç, etc. - Other peak-shape parameters. |
