2.1. Materials and sample preparation The epoxy system consists of a DGEBPA resin and a polycyclic amine hardener 。Single-wall carbon nanotubes are added to the resin at 0.2 wt.% with the use of a three-roll-mill. The hardener is stirred into the resin-SWCNT dispersion with a mechanical agitator and the resulting mixture is put under a vacuum to eliminate air bubbles. The samples consist of neat epoxy beams on which a layer of strain sensitive SWCNT composite is coated. The beams are prepared by casting neat resin specimens into aluminum moulds and curing them for 1 h at 80 ℃.
