Guys, which one do you prefer to choose?

I argued with my friend some days ago, not for kinds of big things, but an actual problem which we are gonna face with, "our job after graduation". If there are two job opportunities to choose, one is a job has a close relationship with what you've learned and your professional knowledge. But unfortunately, the company provides you low salaries. The other one is a job that you have never learned and understood before, but you can get a satisfactory salary. However there is a little feeling named un-confidence in your mind. So what will you do? I choose the latter, and my reason is that we can make good use of what we've learned in so many fields and areas. Our professional knowledge is part of our wealth, the ability to work and live is even more important sometimes. Besides, our professional field jobs can not provide us good salaries. While, my friend said he will never choose the second one. Since we have spent so many years on this field, we should continue to work on the field, even if we get nothing. He said the most important is we should insist on doing something. I don't deny all his views, but it's really hard to judge who is right or wrong totally. At least from my eyes. Guys, what will you choose in that situation? why? |

As a teacher in an university, as well as an elder sister, I recommend the latter choice as you. Have you seen the video lecture given by American President Obama for high school students? He said, the training or education received from diverse courses, aims to raise the basic logical methods /abilities for analysizing and solving problems. This is the essence of education, not the score. So, don't limit yourself on the ONLY special major. Additionally, according to the real experiences of my graduated undergraduates and masters, most of their careers are less related to what they have learned in campus, one reason is for better salary, and another reason is for the social needs, which determines the trend of companies/products. In the viewpoint of research, although my majors in undergraduate , mater and Ph.D are all different, now I enjoy the innovation/new ideas form diverse courses, however. As I know, many big companies, like P&G(Bao jie) share with my same opinion, and they provide offers for interviewees in different majors to inject new blood for the development of companies. ![]() ![]() ![]() [ Last edited by amywanghebsz on 2011-10-14 at 18:32 ] |
