In view of our very high submission rate and intense competition for publication, the journal's decision-making process has become very stringent. After considering the manuscript carefully in consultation with one or more of our associate editors and/or advisory board members, I have determined that the work, while clearly of value, cannot be considered for publication with high priority. Because your manuscript was not given a high priority rating, it will not be sent out for in-depth peer review. The editors suggest that it should be submitted promptly to a more specialized journal.
We now receive many more interesting papers than we can publish. Instead of delaying decisions for all submissions through peer review, we send out for in-depth review only those papers most likely to be published in Biotechnology and Bioengineering. Our decision is final and is not necessarily a reflection of the quality of your research, but rather of our stringent space limitations and our best editorial judgment of what we are able to publish at this time.
