Ph D candidate positions: We have several Ph.D student positions available in the general area of Computational Mechanics/Materials Physics. The material systems that we are interested in—for example, graphene, semiconductor nanowires and quantum dots—are relevant for nanotechnology and energy applications. The current research topics are multidisciplinary in nature, with underlying principles drawn from Mechanics and Condensed Matter Physics. These topics also offer an excellent opportunity for close interactions with experimentalists and with our international collaborators. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Mechanics/Materials Science/Physics with some exposure to molecular dynamics and density functional theory simulations. Preference will be given to the candidates with a strong academic performance and track record.
