原文如下： Publisher’s Note It is with deep regret that we let you know that Frans Habraken, editor of Applied Surface Science for over 12 years, passed away on Tuesday, September 6. Frans had been ill for some time, but his illness did not stop him from actively pursuing his editorial commitments to Applied Surface Science. His contributions to the journal cannot be overemphasized and his dedication, knowledge and friendly nature will be sadly missed. He will be greatly missed not only by those close to him, but the wider scientific community.
