| Business process was analyzed as a sum of all sub processes and the recommendations, or reengineering were focused on demanding better products and services. That concept must include all aspects of business operations as an effective measurement to obtain gradual, incremental improvement. BPR proposes that a business can get far greater value from investment in IT by changing the way it is applied. The system recommendation was to replace an aging distributed corporate system with highly integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications. One possible option to use IT to automate existing business processes, was less risky to implement, but did not offer such improvement opportunity as redesigning the entire system. Technology was used to rethink and fundamentally redesign key business processes for dramatic performance gains. The top-down methodology creates a strong executive buy-in and simplifies the change process itself. |
