何时tell，何时say？

在教课的过程中，我意识到，不同水平，不同国家的学生们对如何区分使用say与tell都有着普遍的疑问。今天我们就帮助大家来理一理这两个词用法的区别。在博客最后还有个小测试，你可以看看自己是不是真的弄明白了！ 首先，最简单的区分方式如下： You say something. 你说某事。 You tell someone something (used to mean ‘instruct’ or ‘inform’) 你告诉某人某事。 如： Jim said that he was tired. Jim说他累了。 Jim told Jane that he was tired. JimJane说他累了。 当然了，并不是所有的情境都这么简单，这里有一些小规则帮助你来区分。 如何区分say与tell的使用1. 是否有人物对象。通常来说，tell后面跟的都是宾语（你对谁说话），而say后一般没有宾语。 She told me that she was allergic to cats. She said that she was allergic to cats. 2. Say后常跟to，对某人说。有时候say后面会跟to+宾语。 He said to me that he was really tired. Sarah said to Jim that he had done very well in his first day at work. 3. 直接引语。用say可表示直接引语，而用tell表示直接引语时，往往是表示指令等。 Amanda said, “Hello John. How are you?” He told her to “Open the door quietly.” 4. 间接引语。我们可以用say和tell来表述间接引语。 She said that it was raining. She told me that she would call at 5pm. 但在间接引语为提问时，则不能使用say或tell，我们需要用ask。 She asked if I had ever been there before. He asked her where she lived. 5. 指令及建议。我们用tell+宾语+动词不定式的格式来表达指令及建议。 She told him to sit down and be quiet.
