The survey conducted by the U.S. Department of Education in 2003 indicated that the number of teachers who felt or considered themselves to be efficient in available IT was slightly over 27%. That number was higher as a similar survey conducted in 1999 indicated that less than 20% of public school teachers felt equipped with appropriate computer skills necessary to integrate technology into their classrooms. In the virtue of a charter school, almost 80% of educational services must be delivered bymeans of an electronic communication. The charter school system has no choice of including or not including IT. In order to succeed, information technology and information sharing must be embedded in every single administrative and education operation to create a symbiotic relationship with the school, community, and the entire student base. |
