In our laboratory, much work has been conducted to study the synergism between RE ions and other compounds on the corrosion of some metals and alloys in strong acidic media. In 1996, the synergistic inhibition between anionic surfactant (sodium dodecyl sulfonate, SDS) and La3+ for mild steel corrosion in 1.0 M HCl was reported .
