| In equation (1) - (3), T is temperature, γ(T)is the coefficient of surface free energy, Sm is the molar surface area of free nanostructural material, θ is the contact angle between a particle and a substrate,γi(T)is particle-substrate interface free energy per unit area, Ai (T,θ) is the molar interface area between particles and substrate, Am(T) is the molar interface area between particles and the surrounding matrix,γm(T)is the coefficient of surface free energy of the surrounding matrix, and α represents the amount of correlation between the atoms of the nanoparticals and those of the surrounding matrix; α=1 if there is epitaxy between nanocrystals and the surrounding matrix. |
