The paper described the performance and use of abietic acid, characteristics and advantages of microwave heating, and the process methods of extract abietic acid from rosin under the conditions used in the microwave. It discussed the microwave irradiation power, microwave irradiation time and catalyst amount which impact on the abietic acid extraction, and find out the optimal extraction process of abietic acid extraction under microwave irradiation conditions. The optimal extraction process was that the amount of HCl catalyst in 1.2mL, microwave power at 616W, microwave irradiation time in 40min. Synthesize the best elements, the abietic acid yield was 20.1%, melting point was 170 ℃,the specific rotation [] Dt of abietic acid products was -103.8.
