Abstract
Purpose: Crude extracts from leaves and stems of Ligustrum quihoui Carr. were subjected to analyze their inhibition effect on xanthine oxidase, and flavones were used to conduct primary qualitative research. Our work lays foundation for anti-aging research of Ligustrum quihoui Carr.
Method: Crude extracts of Ligustrum quihoui Carr. were obtained by boil and chromatography. Flavones components from crude extracts were tested for their inhibitory effect on xanthine oxidase. Dry-column chromatography was performed to separate each fraction of crude extracts. In the end flavones chromogenic reaction was carried out to characterize flavones qualitatively.
Result: Inhibitory effect of crude extracts from leaves and stems of Ligustrum quihoui Carr. on Xanthine oxidase was not obvious enough. Total six compounds were obtained from further isolation, of which two are characterized to be flavone through chromogenic reaction.
Conclusion: It doesn’t seem optimistic to develop crude extracts from leaves and stems of Ligustrum quihoui Carr. into inhibition ingredient on xanthine oxidase. Further research work might be elimination of free radicals DPPH, hydroxyl radicals and superoxide anion with our progress. It is expected crude extracts from leaves and stems of Ligustrum quihoui Carr. might play a rule in anti-oxidation.
