Zinc oxide being catalyst, the main raw material rosin and PEG are catalyzed to form an intermediates, polyethylene glycol ester of rosin, which then reacts with citric acid, leading to formation of a new type of surfactant, rosin-polyethylene glycol-citric acid ester (RPGC). Optimum conditions for synthesis of RPGC are discussed. Optimum conditions for synthesis of intermediates are as following, molar ratio of rosin and PEG6000 being 4:1 reaction temperature being 270¡æ£¬and reaction time being 3 h. Optimum conditions for synthesis of objective product are as following, reaction temperature being 150¡æ and reaction time being 60 min. Properties of the surfactant, such as surface tension (¦Ã), critical micelle concentration (CMC), emulsification, bubble, et al are discussed.
