All these studies suggest that W-based photocatalysts, although few studied, would be the promising group of catalysts worthy of further in-depth study. It should be noted that all the W-based catalysts mentioned above are oxide and most of them only showed activity under UV light or only had the activity for oxygen evolution under visible light due to their unfavorable band gap or band position. On the other hand, several multi-component sulfides have recently been reported to show high photocatalytic efficiency, suggesting that such sulfides could be a new class of efficient visible-light-driven photocatalysts.
