The Jackson School of Geosciences at The University of Texas at Austin (UT) invites applications for a postdoctoral research position. Successful candidates will join the UT Bureau of Economic Geology's GeoFluids Research Group.

This dynamic group of research scientists, faculty, and students is working at the interface of science and engineering, with a central focus on understanding the role of fluids in rock, salt, and sediment deformation.

We look for expertise in experimental geomechanics. The candidate will perform uniaxial and triaxial testing on geological and synthetic samples to explore the evolution of fabric and material properties in mudrocks during consolidation. We look forward to developing new techniques to study the material properties of low permeability sediments/rocks in order to better understand how material behavior impacts larger scale processes. A background in experimental sediment and rock mechanics is preferred.

Qualified individuals should have a PhD in Geosciences, Soils Engineering or a related field at the time of appointment. Salary will be competitive.
