ISSUE144 - "It is the artist, not the critic,* who gives society something of lasting value." *a person who evaluates works of art, such as novels, films, music, paintings, etc. The author of this statement contends that artist but critic can give society something of lasting value. As to me,I agree with viewpoint positively as a whole. As is often said by my father, who is a famous artist of purple artwork, and I paraphrase-"The true value of each artwork is an expression of the artist's imagination and inspiration. When someone tries to understand and appreciate the value of artwork, an interaction between heart of the artist and public happens¡±. Art is a vivid expression of the heart of artist, and its lasting value can not be detracted or exaggerated by others, such as critics and so on. Even if there are some cases when people misunderstand the value of the artwork, time will be the most honest judge and any mislead toward artwork will go away disappear at last. Additionally, critic¡¯s job is to evaluate the artwork, and can not affect the lasting value of artwork in the long run. Take Vandal for example, his abstract fainting were severely criticized by the critics at his time because his fresh can not be accepted by the majorities. Even before he was dead, his talents still can not been appreciated by the public. While, as is the old saying-true true gold can not fear fire, the value of his paintings finally won worldwide praise after hundreds of years. We, humans, always have a limited understanding toward others' ideas, but the true value of artwork will always be appreciated due to an increase in percipience and knowledge. However, some important aspects of critics can not be ignored, especially in their contributions in helping people understand the value of artist. Critic is somewhat like a bridge between the common people and artist. Art is a fresh thought of the artist, which can not be easily understood by public. It is common sense that we understand most of the artworks through critics, and the public tend to take the famous critic's words for sure. All in all, the eternal value of artwork is originated from the artist, not from the critic. However, critic does help people understand the lasting value sometimes. ¸Ð¾õÌâÃûÄÑд£¬Íû¸ßÊÖ°ïÎÒÍØչ˼· |
