Internal surface complex can be formed by the hydroxy at the ZrO2 surface and hydrate magnesium absorbed. ZrO2 nanocrystalline surface can be used as a kind of polymerized acid. The proton transportion of surface hydroxy occurs and the surface metal ions can be regards as Lewis acid. However, the surface hydroxy that gets away from proton can be regards as Lewis alkali, which can cause a surface complexed reaction with the metal ions or ligand in the solution. It's similar to the complexed reaction in the solution but the interface charge effect of the surface reaction should be considered.
