The less the number of energy levels close to the Fermi level of a cluster is, the more stable the cluster is. Thus, the relativestability of Si70 isomers can be reflected in the DOS near the Fermi energy level. Figure 4 displays the calculated DOSfor two structural motifs of Si70 (diamond-like and endohedralfullerene). The Fermi energy levels are set to zero. It is obvious that the distribution of DOS under Fermi energy level for the diamond-like fragment is about 3 eV deeper than those of Si14@Si56 and Si16@Si54.
