Will you agree your children to study medicine again?

[非教师] I visited Rules and Laws of Medicine Board in DXY yesterday. There was a topic which was highly visited these days. The topic is “Will you agree your children to study medicine again?” I am interested in this title because I nearly applied for a clinical postgraduate last year. However, to my surprise, I found a serious problem that few doctors would permit their children to study medicine as a career. The data show that almost all doctors now have regretted to be a doctor though everybody knows that it is a decent occupation both in China and abroad. Dxyers’ reasons about this phenomenon are different and impressive. They think their job can’t be fully understood by our society, and doctors don’t behave badly as patients have imagined. They can’t accept the disrespect from our media and patients. One Dxyer told that he absolutely refuse his daughter to study medicine again. Because it will at least take her eight years to study in university and she must spend nearly another three years to do some stuffs in hospital. She will be too old to find a boyfriend, and it must have any effects on her pregnancy because she has to take night shifts every x-days even if she gets married. Another Dxyer narrated his story which occurred at the beginning of his fourth year study. One surgery director taught them the first lesson about surgery. It was funny that the doctor firstly bowed to students so as to express his praise for their choice of medicine, especially in the foul medical conditions in China. As far as I am concerned, I think we can’t criticize doctors too much. Our government asks hospitals to heal the wounded and rescue the dying, but never provide any funds for hospitals. While, hospitals and doctors are not allowed to help those financially disadvantaged patients. Then it generates a conflict between doctors and patients by appearance. However, it is not doctors’ faults in fact. I think our country is a little sly because it transfers the relationship with patients to the relationships between doctors and patients. Besides, our media exaggerate a lot of untrue reports so that many people misunderstand doctors so much. This is an actual problem in China and I sometimes have a desire to write a paper about this phenomenon, even though I totally unknown about how to write it and present it so far. I wonder why nobody investigates this problem seriously and claims it highly in our society. I hope we can make an effort to make our confusing people know the truth and present an objective review about the genuine relationship between doctors and patients.
