Special Issue on Green Telecommunications

Scope:
Telecommunications industry is experiencing a tremendous growth in terms of numbers of users, network throughput, and applications. With the continuous expansion of telecommunication systems scale, the numbers of core device, power system, engine room and base station are increasing greatly, which lead to energy consumption seriously. Therefore, reducing the energy consumption by several orders of magnitude compared to the current level has become an important requirement for the design of future green telecommunication systems. The objective of this special issue is to present a collection of high-quality research papers that report the latest research advances in the area of green telecommunications for future communications and networks, which mainly includes the green network architecture, protocol design, components and devices, spectrum management, energy management, and etc.
In this special issue, we solicit original work in all areas of telecommunications. In particular, we seek original work on identifying new research and development challenges and developing new techniques and algorithms in green telecommunications for future telecommunication systems. Specific topics include, but not limited to, the following:
? Green technologies in various types of networks (LAN, mobile, broadband and wireless access networks, home and office networks, handover in heterogeneous networks, smart grid, etc)
? Green protocols design (transmission protocols, MAC protocols, cross layer optimizations, etc)
? Green components and devices (switches, routers, terminals and base station architectures, low-power circuit, etc)
? Green spectrum management (interference and efficiency, frequency allocation, licensing of spectrum, EMC, broadband and convergence, etc)
? Energy management (architectures and frameworks, hierarchical and distributed technologies, remote power management, harvesting distributed energy generation technologies, energy consumption measurement and profiling technologies, etc)
? Others and emerging new topics
Submission Details:
Prospective authors are invited to submit research contributions representing original, previously unpublished work. Submitted papers will be carefully evaluated based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of exposition. Authors should follow the Telecommunication Systems (https://www.springer.com/busines ... tems/journal/11235) manuscript format as described in the Instruction to Authors. Manuscripts (pdf and source files) must be directly emailed to the Guest Editors, Dr. Rongbo Zhu, rbzhuster@gmail.com with clear indication that submission is for the Special Issue on “Green Telecommunications”, Telecommunication Systems. All manuscripts should include a title page containing the title of the paper, full names and affiliations, complete postal and electronic addresses, phone and fax numbers, an abstract, and some keywords. Manuscripts are typically 20 pages in length (single-column format), and should not exceed 35 pages. The contacting author should be clearly identified.

Submission of final manuscript: May 10, 2011
Publication date: December 2011 (Tentative)
