Ïêϸ¿¨¶û˹³´óѧ²©Ê¿¿Õ룬»ú»á²»´íŶ~~~ The Institute of Applied Physics, University of Karlsruhe, Germany, is looking for a Graduate Student for an International (Albert-Einstein College, New York, US ¨C KIT, Karlsruhe, Germany) Collaboration in Chemistry. Topic: Protein Dynamics and Protein Function. The project involves structural and spectroscopic research on two heme proteins, nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and indole amine dioxygenase (IDO), which are at the center of arginine and tryptophan metabolism, respectively. The project aims to understand the function of these two enzymes on a molecular basis. Therefore, the interactions between protein, ligand and substrate have to be investigated. The candidate will employ a variety of spectroscopic techniques to study the structure-dynamics-function relations of these proteins, including time-resolved spectroscopy with monitoring in the UV/visible/IR and FTIR spectroscopy over a wide temperature range. Basic knowledge in genetic engineering/protein expression would be desirable for this interdisciplinary project.
