East Eurasia extends from low to high latitudes, encompasses the Tibetan Plateau and the Loess Plateau, and abuts the Pacific, Arctic and Indian Oceans. This vast region has a climate regime ranging from monsoonal in the east to arid in the west. Its geographical range encompasses the impacts of Westerly, Monsoonal and ITCZ climatic influences and ENSO activity. The evolution and dynamics of the monsoonal-arid environments not only drive the Earth surface processes of East Eurasia, but also have substantial implications for global-scale environmental changes. A number of continental environmental drilling projects (Lake Baikal, Lake Hovsgol, Lake Qinghai, Lake Heqing etc.) are successfully completed in obtaining high resolution environmental records for different time scales and for respective climate systems. The results of the studies will not only substantially enhance the scientific understanding of the evolution of the East Eurasian environment, but will also contribute to the development of predictive frameworks to support informed decision making and practical applications. This conference aims to analyze, compare, synthesize and integrate the high resolution terrestrial environmental records to discuss how did Asian monsoons, including east Asian and Indian monsoons, link with high and low latitude climates as well as the southern hemisphere climate, what are the possible driving mechanisms at different time scales. Scientists from developing countries, early career scientists and research students are encouraged to participate in this conference and to contribute to the advancement of the study of the environmental processes of East Eurasia.
