Postdoc: Adhesion between Al and polymers investigated by MD simulations At Centre de Recherche Public - Gabriel Lippmann, department Science and Analysis of Materials, Field(s): material physics Application deadline: Sep 27 (Mon), 2010 Submitted: Sep 27, 2010 Contact: Dr Patrick Philipp E-mail: philipp@lippmann.lu Address: 41 rue du Brill 4422 Belvaux Luxembourg Job description: The Centre de Recherche Public - Gabriel Lippmann, a public establishment for applied scientific research and technology transfer, has an immediate opening on a temporary contract basis for its department "Science and Analysis of Materials" (SAM) that focuses in the following fields: characterization of materials, surface treatment and thin films, instrumental developments, nanotechnologies and nanomaterials. Researcher specialized in numerical simulations (Post-doctoral position m/f) Mission: The post-doctorial researcher will work on an international project focusing on the development of nano-engineered surfaces and interfaces allowing for reversible adhesion. In the project, a multidisciplinary approach combining numerical simulations, plasma deposition, chemistry and mechanics is used to investigate the interaction between functionalized and nano-structured surfaces as a function of plasma parameters and surface functionality. The post-doctorial researcher will use MD simulations to understand the atomic-scale mechanisms underlying reversible adhesion between metal and polymer surfaces. Parameters investigated include polymer composition, polymer chain length and orientation as well as surface topography. If necessary, complementary information will be obtained by DFT calculations or MC simulations. The simulation work will be carried out in close collaboration with experiments to develop realistic models of the interface processes. Profile: - PhD in physics, chemistry or materials science - Experience in MD simulations is mandatory - Experience in DFT calculations or MC calculations will be an asset - Fluency in English (spoken and written) is a must, knowledge of French will be considered as an advantage - Excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills Candidates who are interested in the above position should send their application (with the above reference) including CV, motivation letter and names of 2-3 referees |
