Thousands of words from Spanish have become part of the English language , and more words from Spanish are entering English all the time. Many Spanish words were absorbed into the English language in the sixteenth and seenteenth centuries, when explorers from Spain gave Spanish names to mountains, rivers, lakes, and new settlements in North America.

Do you know the meanings for these places, Colorado, Florida, Los Angeles, San Fancisco and Fresno (They are named in Spanish names, and the names have been used by now)?

Identifying the originas and meanings of foreigh words in English is a vocabulary skill.

google them then you may find the answere. If you know the history of the United States, you will know the reason that many many Spanish words entering Englsih.  Do it and post your answer here.
