| The outcome of this project includes a fundamental understanding of the formation mechanism of extremely thin wires, particularly the atomic wires, of anatase titania, and a roadmap for the application of these new nanomaterials, especially the N-doped TiO2 atomic wires, in photocatalytic degradation of pollutants in water and in air. More generally, the work will also promote exchanges between theory and experiments in fundamental studies of 1D systems and provide unique building blocks to construct high-performance devices in physical, chemical, environmental, and engineering areas. |
