On May 15th, for example, Cornell University sold $250m-worth of bonds. In recent weeks both Harvard and the University of Texas have also raised hundreds of millions of dollars in this way. ¡¡¡¡Such debt-raising is becoming more common. There are abundant reasons to believe that the market will grow much bigger yet. ¡¡¡¡Largely this is because colleges are only belatedly becoming aware of how useful the financial markets can be. No doubt some of their hesitation has been cultural: academics may have been reluctant to look at their universities as businesses; or they may have misunderstood what was needed to help those businesses grow. ¡¡¡¡If they did look at their institutions in economic terms, people in education tended not to think that universities lacked capital. Rather, they thought that they had a structural inability to use capital and labour more efficiently. Unlike the car industry, many schools felt that they must maintain, or even increase, the ratio of employees (teachers) to customers (students). Small class sizes are taken as a signal of high quality, so investing money to save on teachers¡¯ salaries is not an attractive strategy. ¡¡ ¡¡¡¡¡¾²Î¿¼ÒëÎÄ¡¿£º ¡¡¡¡´óѧծȯ£º½ÌÓý¾·ÑµÄд°¿Ú ¡¡¡¡²»ÎªÈËÖªµÄÊÇ£¬Ô½À´Ô½¶àµÄ´óѧ¿ªÊ¼ÈÈÖÔÓÚÏòÊг¡´û¿î¡£ÀýÈ磬¿µÄζû´óѧÓÚ5ÔÂ15ÈÕ³öÊÛÁ˼ÛÖµ2ÒÚ5ǧÍòÃÀÔªµÄծȯ¡£×î½ü¼¸ÖÜ£¬¹þ·ð´óѧºÍµÂ¿Ë˹´óѧҲͨ¹ýÕâÑùµÄ;¾¶»ñÈ¡ÁËÊýÒÔÒڼƵÄ×ʽ𡣠¡¡¡¡ÏñÕâÖÖ´û¿î¼¯×ʵķ½Ê½ÒѾԽÀ´Ô½Æձ飬ÎÒÃÇÓÐ×ã¹»µÄÀíÓÉÏàÐÅÊг¡»áµÃµ½´ó·ù¶ÈµÄÀ©ÕÅ¡£ ¡¡¡¡ÕâÖ÷ÒªÊÇÒòΪ£¬ºÜ¶à´óѧ²Å¸Õ¸Õ·¢ÏÖ½ðÈÚÊг¡µÄÓô¦Óжà´ó¡£µ±È»£¬ÊÜ´«Í³ÎÄ»¯µÄÓ°Ï죬һ²¿·ÖÈË»¹³Ö»³ÒÉ̬¶È£ºÑ§ÊõÅɲ»Ô¸¿´µ½Ñ§Ð£¹ýÓÚÉÌÒµ»¯;»òÕßËûÃÇûÓп´Çå°ïÖúÕâÖÖÉÌÒµÀ©ÕÅÐèÒªµÄÊÇʲô¡£ ¡¡¡¡Èç¹ûËûÃÇ´Ó¾¼ÃѧµÄ¹ÛµãÀ´¿´ÕâЩѧУ£¬½ÌÓýÕßÃÇÄÑÒÔ½ÓÊÜÕâЩ´óѧ»áȱ·¦×ʽð¡£ËûÃǸüÇãÏòÓÚÈÏΪ£¬Ñ§Ð£ÓÐ×ã¹»µÄ×éÖ¯ÄÜÁ¦À´¼ÝÔ¦×ʽðºÍÀͶ¯Á¦¡£ÓëÆû³µÐÐÒµ²»Í¬µÄÊÇ£¬ºÜ¶àѧУԸÒâΪÁËÏû·ÑÕß(ѧÉú)µÄÐèÒª¶ø±£³Ö£¬ÉõÖÁÔö¼ÓÔ±¹¤(½Ìʦ)µÄ±ÈÂÊ¡£Ð¡Ð͵ĿÎÌýÌÓý±»ÈÏΪÊǸßÖÊÁ¿µÄ±êÖ¾£¬Òò´ËͶÈë×ʽðÀ´½ÚÊ¡½Ìʦнˮ²¢²»ÊÇÓÐÎüÒýÁ¦µÄ·½°¸¡£ ¡¡¡¡¡¾¿¼Ñдʻ㡿£º ¡¡¡¡willingness n.×ÔÔ¸£¬ÀÖÒâ ¡¡¡¡abundant a.·á¸»µÄ, ³äÔ£µÄ, ·á¸», Ê¢²ú, ¸»ÓÚ ¡¡¡¡financial a.²ÆÕþµÄ;½ðÈÚµÄ ¡¡¡¡hesitation n.ÓÌÔ¥, ³ì³ù ¡¡¡¡institution n.¹«¹²»ú¹¹, лá, ÖÆ¶È ¡¡¡¡perspective n.¢ÙÊÓ½Ç;¢Ú͸ÊÓ·¨;¢Û(in~)ÕýÈ·µØ ¡¡¡¡[ÕæÌâÀý¾ä](63) The emphasis on data gathered firstª²hand, combined with a crossª²cultural perspective (¢Ù) brought to the analysis of cultures past and present, makes this study a unique and distinctly important social science.[2003Äê·Òë] ¡¡¡¡[Àý¾ä¾«Òë](63)Ç¿µ÷ÊÕ¼¯µÚÒ»ÊÖ×ÊÁÏ£¬¼ÓÉÏÔÚ·ÖÎö¹ýÈ¥ºÍÏÖÔÚÎÄ»¯ÐÎ̬ʱ²ÉÓÿçÎÄ»¯Êӽǣ¬Ê¹µÃÕâÒ»Ñо¿³ÉΪһÃŶÀÌز¢Çҷdz£ÖØÒªµÄÉç»á¿Æѧ¡£ ¡¡ |
