Due to the devastating winds, heavy rainfall, billow and storm tide, typhoon is a major threat to ocean ships. The improper measures to evade typhoon often cause damage to ships and cargo, and even sink ships and kill people. The present research and application on typhoon evasion is deficient in china. In order to meet the shipping companies¡¯ requirements on typhoon evasion, this paper relies on scientific and technological support of national projects "Ship and cargo online monitoring system (SCOM)" and researches on the Ocean Vessel's Optimum Route Designing Software System for Typhoon Evasion. On the basis of analyzing the present research status at home and abroad, this paper proposes the significance and purpose of the research. Combined with shipping companies¡¯ requirements and principles on typhoon evasion, this paper uses track calculating method, target circle and radar plotting method. This paper researches on whether the ship needs to take action, the time and the measures to evade typhoon. In order to reduce the economic looses, this ship should return to the planned route or resume the planned speed at the proper time, so this paper studies on the route to return to the planed route and the time to resume the planed speed. After getting new typhoon information, the system should design new route to evade typhoon according to the new information. The Ocean Vessel's Optimum Route Designing Software System for Typhoon Evasion is implemented on the SCOM. By doing simulation experiments, this paper proves the correctness of the scheme and summarizes the sources of error. The experiment shows that the system can reduce typhoon¡¯s impact on ship to some extent and ensure the economy and security of ship, so it meets the shipping companies¡¯ requirements on typhoon evasion.
