Immediately after plants were removed from the spray
chamber, four 1-ml droplets of 14C-glyphosate spotting
solution were placed on the adaxial surface of the secondright
leaflet on the sixth true leaf of each plant during the
first run of the experiment, with leaflets on the right and left
of the petiole closest to the stem numbered as the first
leaflet on the right and the first leaflet on the left, respectively.
The 14C-glyphosate spotting solution was prepared by combining
56.3 ml of a 14C-glyphosate solution5 [14C-phosphonomethyl-
labelled with 88.8 Bq mmol21 specific activity, . 98%
radiochemical purity] with 944 ml of the respective glyphosate
spray solution, resulting in an activity of 417 Bq ml21.
During the second run of the experiment, the 14C-glyphosate
spotting solution was placed on the adaxial surface of the secondright
leaflet on the fourth true leaf. Leaves chosen for spotting
were located near the top of the plant and would consistently
intercept the spray solution. The difference in location of
the spotting location between the two runs was due to differences
in plant heights (Table 2). Droplets were placed randomly on
the leaflet with a digital microsyringe,6 but leaf veins were
avoided.

在植物移到喷雾室外后,在第一轮实验中,立即在第六“真叶”的次生小叶的下表面滴上4滴/ml的14C -草甘膦溶液。分别将左边最靠近茎的叶柄的第一叶标记为左边的第一小叶,右边的记为右边的第一小叶。14C -草甘膦溶液的配制是通过56.3毫升一个14C-草甘膦溶液5(用88.8 Bq mmol 21 放射性比度98%的放射化学纯度标记的14C-膦酰甲基)与944ml的草甘膦喷雾液,得到417 Bq ml21的活性。在第二轮实验中,在第四“真叶”的次生小叶的下表面滴上4滴/ml的14C -草甘膦溶液。被选择点斑点叶子在植物顶端,因为它要不断地拦截喷雾液。在两轮实验中斑点位置不同由于植物的高度(表2)。液滴随机的滴在有微型注射器的小叶上,6但避免在叶脉上。
